"I HAVE EARNED EVERY LINE"
“I have earned every line,” is a portrait campaign celebrating the raw, natural beauty of women over 50, photographed without makeup, filters, or retouching. Every line, wrinkle, and silver strand is a mark of a life well lived. Through powerful imagery and handwritten letters, we’re reframing aging as something to honor, not hide. This project is about visibility, legacy, and reminding women that their beauty doesn’t fade, it evolves.”
Have You Earned Every Line? Join the Movement.
Are you a woman over 50 who’s ready to be seen, truly seen in your natural beauty?
No makeup. No filters. Just you.
I’m inviting women in their 50s, 60s, 70s, and beyond to be part of I Have Earned Every Line, a portrait campaign honouring the stories etched into our skin: laugh lines, silver strands, soft eyes, bold spirits.
This is not about perfection, it’s about presence. No modelling experience needed. Just come as you are.
I Have Earned Every Line is a multidisciplinary portrait and storytelling project that celebrates the beauty, resilience, and lived experience of women aged 50 and over. Through unretouched, no-makeup portraits, the project challenges dominant cultural narratives that equate youth with value, instead honoring aging as a visible and meaningful record of a life lived.
Each participant is photographed without beauty retouching, filters, or digital alteration. The resulting portraits embrace natural texture, lines, and expression, presenting subjects as they are powerful, present, and fully seen.
The project extends beyond portraiture into a layered storytelling experience. Each woman contributes:
- A photographic portrait
- A short video completing the phrase: “I have earned every line because…”
- A handwritten personal letter reflecting on her life, experiences, and the meaning behind the lines she carries
Together, these elements form a collective archive of voices and faces, documenting the emotional, physical, and personal histories of women whose stories are often underrepresented in visual culture.
The project will culminate in:
- A juried exhibition featuring a selection of 50 portraits
- A published book including all 100 participants, each paired with her handwritten letter
- Public programming and community engagement opportunities centered on storytelling, visibility, and aging
To date, nearly 80 women have been photographed, and the project is actively working toward completing 100 participants.
At its core, I Have Earned Every Line is both a celebration and a cultural intervention. It invites viewers to reconsider how we see aging, beauty, and worth, while offering participants the rare opportunity to be seen, heard, and honored on their own terms.
