Wow! All of my apprehensions melted away so quickly. I just had no idea how good I would feel during the session. Kambua's confident energy and knowledge of her craft let me embrace the moment, forget my preconceived notions, and have fun. A special moment of time...just for me. Not to mention that Kambua's studio is also great.
I walked away knowing that the photo would be something that I'd be proud to share. And turns out -- it was!
Someone I know posted pictures taken of her by Kambua for her "I've earned every line" project. I was intrigued and found out it was a photography project geared toward women 50 and over. I didn't have any real photos of just myself and I also liked that she asked that you wear no makeup. That wasn't a problem for me because I don't wear makeup but she asked that you wear a white top. I only wear black but bought a white top and booked my session. Kambua made the shoot so easy and comfortable because we just had conversations while she took pictures. She was able to capture so many different angles and moods while holding various conversations. It was a pleasant, and effortless experience with no pressure to pose for the "perfect shot." After the shoot, Kambua opens a freezer and offers you ice cream! You can't get any better than this. It was a fantastic experience.
She made me feel comfortable right away with her warm personality and clear guidance. She knew exactly how to position me, gave helpful cues, and had an incredible eye for detail. The session felt natural and even fun — something I never expected to say about having my photo taken!
The final headshots turned out beautifully. I couldn’t believe how well she captured me — confident, approachable, and professional. I’m so grateful for her talent and the care she puts into her work. Highly recommend to anyone, especially if you’re new to being in front of the camera!
An update to my review: Kambua encouraged me to do a portrait session last year as part of a physical and emotional healing journey for me. The session itself was fun and energizing and was indeed the healing I needed. The portraits (attached) helped me see myself in a completely different light. I have one of these portraits up on my wall where only I can see it to remind me that, flaws and all, my body is beautiful and perfect the way it is. Thank you Kambua for helping me see myself in a different way!
Kambua's also taken some amazing photos of wild life from Kenya that are hung up in our home. She has a great eye, a kind and fun personality, and is very patient when it comes to taking great photos of people.
Her skills in editing have also improved tremendously over the years and a single headshot session has resulted in new outcomes as she develops new skills.

She will make you feel confident and in a safe space, while bringing the vibes up! she knows what she's doing and at the same time she is able to collaborate with you and take I your own ideas, and she is very creative.
Last pictures we have done together are some of my favorite ever, I could recognize myself in the aspects that I like. so important!
