Such a great flash workshop! The small group made it easy to ask questions and actually get hands‑on time, and the vibe was relaxed and so much fun. Having a model there the whole time was huge — it let us try different setups and see real results right away.

The instructor is award‑winning for a reason. Clear, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping everyone understand the “why” behind the light. The studio space was beautiful and fully equipped, which made experimenting feel effortless.

I walked out more confident and excited to use flash in my own work. Highly recommend.

This was my first time having professional photos taken, and I was honestly a bit nervous going in — especially since I’ve never considered myself very photogenic. But working with Kambua was an amazing experience!

I met Kambua when she was an instructor for Intro to Portrait Photography at Chicago Photography Classes. She's a phenomenal instructor there, but an even better photographer in her studio! It's in Bridgeport and is amazing. I couldn't believe my eyes when looking at the headshots she took of me when I had absolutely no makeup and before ANY editing. Her lighting set up, knowledge of best ways to pose and expertise behind the camera are superior. She brings a joy to the process. I highly recommend her for any portrait photography needs. The value is there when you see the finished product.

An update to my review: Kambua encouraged me to do a portrait session last year as part of a physical and emotional healing journey for me. The session itself was fun and energizing and was indeed the healing I needed. The portraits (attached) helped me see myself in a completely different light. I have one of these portraits up on my wall where only I can see it to remind me that, flaws and all, my body is beautiful and perfect the way it is. Kambua is like family to us. She does a great job of directing the subjects to take fantastic portrait photos and action shots. She's taken hundreds of really great photos of my daughter and I together.

Kambua's also taken some amazing photos of wild life from Kenya that are hung up in our home. She has a great eye, a kind and fun personality, and is very patient when it comes to taking great photos of people.

Her skills in editing have also improved tremendously over the years and a single headshot session has resulted in new outcomes as she develops new skills.
